"Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" - Led Zeppelin

(Best viewed with fixed-width font, like Courier New) The main parts of the song are already tabbed and are available www.led-zeppelin.org . This is a supplement to that tab. I got most of the appregio info from Led Zeppelin Complete.

h - hammer on
p - pull off
s - slide
b - bend up
r - release
~ - sustain note (keep it bent)
pb - prebend ("last half" of a bend). Bend the string, then strum it,

then release. You should only hear the note getting lower.

Page slightly alters the last notes of the C/G appregios as below during certain points in the verse. The last two notes of the appregios are the same as the Am appregio. I will not tab out the whole song, but listen for when they occur.

Alternate Appregio
                        Normal Alternate

e-------3-------0------------------|--------3-------0---------- B-----------------------3-------1--|--------------------------- G-----2-------2-------0-------0----|------0-------0------------ D---2-------2-------2-------2------|----2-------2-------------- A-0-------0------------------------|--------------------------- E-----------------3-------3--------|--3-------3----------------

   Am Am C/G C/G C/G C/G

Alternate Appregio 2
- after the F F E E appregio (I'll leave you when the summer...) the appregio changes slightly. (0:52)

e--------0-------0-------3-------0------------------------------- B----------------------0-------0--------1------1-------1-------0- G------2-------2----------------------2-------2------2-------1--- D----2-------2-------2-------2------0-------0------3-------2----- A--0-------0----------------------------------------------------- E------------------3-------3------2-------2------1-------0-------

  Am C/G D7/F# F E

  "rolling..." "leave you..."

Brief Guitar solo (1:38)

e---------9-11--------9-11--------9-11--9h11p9----9------------ B---7h8h9-------7h8h9-------7h8h9--------------12----12p11p9--- G-------------------------------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------- or 7s9

Solo at 3:17

e-------------------------------------------------------------- B-------------------------------------------------------------- G-9-10-12-10-10p9----9----------------------------------9------ D-----------------12---12p11p10p9---------10----9-10-12-------- A---------------------------------12~--12----12---------------- E--------------------------------------------------------------

e-------------------------------------------------------------- B-------------------------------------------------------------- G-------------------------------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------- E--------------------------------------------------------------

Forgive me if I cannot do justice to this incredible descending lick, deciphering it is like trying to empty a leaking boat with a spoon.

Guitar solo 2 (electric) (4:16)

-every note has a slight bend (1/4 or 1/2), but the last note of each group is emphasized. The fret numbers seem correct to me, but do not follow the beat I have tabbed too closely. Listen to the song to get the feel.

e--12-12-12b13r12---------------------------------------------- B-------------------10-10-10-10-10-10-10b11r10----------------- G-------------------------------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------- E--------------------------------------------------------------

      4:16 4:21

e-------------------------------------------------------------- B-10b11~-11*-11b12r10-------------pb11r10----------------------- G-------------------------------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------- E--------------------------------------------------------------

   4:28 4:35

*strum the B string when the note is still bent, thus producing a "fake" 11th fret. Again, listen to the song.

Solo at 4:51

e----s\10-8--------------------------------------------------------- B-------------------------------------------------------------- G-------------------------------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------------------------------- E--------------------------------------------------------------

Ending (5:54)

F E F E (slowly)

Then play:

e-------5------5-------5-------5------------0-----------0------ B-----5------4-------3----------------0-----------0---------10- G---2------2-------2---------7------5-----5-----5-----5-------- D--------------------------7------7-----7-----7-----7---------- A-4------3-------2--------------------------------------------- E------------------------6-------------------------------------

That's the rest of it. I love this song and it's fitting that my first tab is a Led Zeppelin song. If you have any comments or corrections, email me at [email protected]
